FAQ

Hydraulic Power Unit Lubrication Questions

What lubricant should I use on hydraulic power unit hydraulic fluid (reservoir)?

We recommend HUSKEY™ HLO Series Oils for normal conditions, or HUSKEY™ FG-300 Lube Oils where NSF H1 food-grade is required. Anti-wear hydraulic oil protects pumps and valves and sheds water. Typical interval: Check level weekly. Sample and change yearly.

What lubricant should I use on hydraulic power unit pump motor bearings?

We recommend HUSKEY™ Coolube Grease for normal conditions, or HUSKEY™ 775 FMG Grease where NSF H1 food-grade is required. Full-speed bearings need a smooth high-speed grease. Typical interval: Every 3 to 6 months.

What lubricant should I use on hydraulic power unit rod seals & o-rings?

We recommend HUSKEY™ LVI-50 for normal conditions, or HUSKEY™ LVI-50 where NSF H1 food-grade is required. Lubricates seals at assembly so they seat and do not tear. Typical interval: At every reseal.

What lubricant should I use on hydraulic power unit cylinder pivot pins?

We recommend HUSKEY™ Coolplex Grease for normal conditions, or HUSKEY™ 775 FMG Grease where NSF H1 food-grade is required. Pins carry shock loads. Regular grease stops wear and squeaks. Typical interval: Weekly on mobile equipment, monthly in plants.

What lubricant should I use on hydraulic power unit hose & pipe fittings?

We recommend HUSKEY™ 400 Thread Sealing Compound for normal conditions, or HUSKEY™ FG-1800 Anti-Seize and Thread Sealing Compound where NSF H1 food-grade is required. Seals tapered threads against leaks. Typical interval: At every assembly.

What lubricant should I use on hydraulic power unit tank level & breather?

We recommend Luneta Column for normal conditions. A tall sight glass shows running and idle levels at a glance; the top takes a 3-micron breather. Typical interval: Daily walk-by.
