Lubricants for Paper and Board Mills

Greases and oils that stand up to water and heat from the wet end to the dryer section.

The challenge

What Paper Equipment Is Up Against

Water at the wet end

Bearings in the forming and press sections face constant water and chemical spray.

Heat in the dryer section

Bearings on steam-heated dryer cans run hot around the clock.

Large gearboxes

Main drive and winder gearboxes carry heavy loads 24/7; micropitting and wear are very expensive.

The cost of unplanned downtime

A stopped paper machine means major lost production every hour.

Paper and board machines are the largest and most expensive equipment in a mill. There is water at the wet end, heat in the dryer section and heavy loads everywhere. When the machine stops, lost production adds up fast.

Why paper machines are hard on lubricants

Wet-end bearings fight constant water spray. Dryer can bearings run at high temperature. Main drive gearboxes turn under heavy load every hour of the day.

Modern solutions

Polymer-fortified greases stay in place under water. Synthetic high-temperature greases last longer in the dryer section. Full synthetic and PAG gear oils reduce micropitting in gearboxes and cut energy use.

How Oilsan helps

We supply HUSKEY™ water- and heat-resistant greases and synthetic gear oils to paper, board and corrugated producers in Türkiye and around the world. Let’s review your machine’s lubrication points together.

What’s new

New Lubrication Technologies for Paper

Polymer-fortified greases for wet service

High film strength, water-resistant greases stay put in wet-end bearings instead of washing out.

Synthetic high-temperature greases

Non-melt synthetic greases withstand dryer-section heat and extend relubrication intervals.

Synthetic gear oils against micropitting

Full synthetic and PAG-based gear oils protect heavily loaded gearboxes, run cooler and save energy.

LPC Series Gear Oils

LPC GEAR OILS are high-performance, fully synthetic, all-purpose gear oils formulated with HUSKEY’S new proprietary SEM (Surface Eutectic Modification) additive. The revolutionary new SEM technology makes it a Lower Power Consumption (LPC) gear oil, hence the name LPC Gear Oil. They offer maximum wear protection under extreme operating conditions such as vibrations, scuffing, oscillating motions, and shock loads, where metal asperity contact occurs. Because of the thermally and mechanically stable polyalphaolefin (PAO) base oils and SEM technology, HUSKEY LPC GEAR OILS give extra protection to micro-pitting due to asperity contact. In addition, compared to both conventional mineral and synthetic gear oils the HUSKEY LPC GEAR OILS have proven they can lower the operating temperatures of the gearbox resulting in lower power costs. Due to their high viscosity index, they provide effortless startup even during cold temperatures; yet give extra wear protection in high-temperature applications. The added antifoam protection gives extra protection to high-speed gearboxes. In addition, the demulsification properties of HUSKEY LPC GEAR OILS provide very fast separation from water contamination. They meet or exceed all *major gear oil specifications, original equipment manufacturer requirements, and wind turbine manufacturers.

FAQ

Common Questions

Which grease suits wet-end bearings?

A highly water-resistant, tacky grease such as HUSKEY Dyna-Mite Red, or SMP Grease, which is designed for wet and hot service.

Should we switch our paper machine gearboxes to synthetic oil?

For heavily loaded gearboxes running continuously, usually yes. HUSKEY LPC and SPG-300 Series are recommended for high-load gearboxes in the paper industry. Check seal and oil compatibility before changing over.

What do you recommend for dryer can bearings?

It depends on the bearing type and lubrication system. Greased points can use a high-temperature grease such as HUSKEY HTS-2 Moly Grease; contact us about circulating oil systems.
