Wind Turbine Lubrication Map
Wind turbines run unattended high above the ground, so every lubricant must last. Gearbox oil and bearing grease are the biggest reliability levers.

Wind Turbine Lubrication Questions
What lubricant should I use on wind turbine main gearbox?
We recommend PROGILINE® Gear Oils for normal conditions. PROGILINE® GEAR PG is made for wind turbine gearboxes; HUSKEY SGL-800 synthetic gear oil is the HUSKEY option. Typical interval: Sample every 6 months. Change per turbine maker.
What lubricant should I use on wind turbine main shaft bearing?
We recommend HUSKEY™ Tuff Stuff Grease for normal conditions, or HUSKEY™ Lube-O-Seal where NSF H1 food-grade is required. Very high load at low speed. Needs a tough, water-resistant grease that stays put. Typical interval: Per turbine maker, often every 6 months.
What lubricant should I use on wind turbine generator bearings?
We recommend HUSKEY™ Coolube Grease for normal conditions, or HUSKEY™ 775 FMG Grease where NSF H1 food-grade is required. High-speed bearings that run for months unattended. Typical interval: Every 6 months or by auto-lubricator.
What lubricant should I use on wind turbine yaw ring gear & drives?
We recommend HUSKEY™ Open Gear Grease for normal conditions, or HUSKEY™ Lube-O-Seal where NSF H1 food-grade is required. Open gear teeth need a tenacious grease that will not fling off. Typical interval: Every 6 months.
What lubricant should I use on wind turbine blade pitch bearings?
We recommend HUSKEY™ Tuff Stuff Grease for normal conditions, or HUSKEY™ Lube-O-Seal where NSF H1 food-grade is required. Small oscillating movements under heavy load. A tough grease prevents false brinelling. Typical interval: Per turbine maker.
What lubricant should I use on wind turbine pitch & brake hydraulics?
We recommend HUSKEY™ HLO Series Oils for normal conditions, or HUSKEY™ FG-300 Lube Oils where NSF H1 food-grade is required. Must flow in the cold and resist foaming and water. Typical interval: Sample yearly.
